Press Release: Live Webinar: SQL Server HA and DR strategies that can cut your TCO by $800,000

April 22, 2014 by sios2017

SAN MATEO, CA – April 22, 2014 – SIOS Technology Corp. (www.us.sios.com), maker of SAN and #SANLess cluster software products, today announced a live webinar that will provide advice from Microsoft SQL Server expert Joey D’Antoni on high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies that cut SQL licensing costs and eliminate the need for a SAN-based cluster. This webinar, “SQL Server HA and DR Strategies That Can Cut Your TCO,” is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST.

During this webinar, Mr. D’Antoni will share the results of his analysis of SQL Server HA and DR TCO. He will discuss the licensing changes in SQL Server 2012 that are increasing the cost of SQL Server software needed for HA and DR and he will describe the costs associated with owning a SAN-based cluster. Mr. D’Antoni will outline an easy strategy for implementing high availability and disaster protection for SQL Server without the need for costly upgrades to SQL Server Enterprise Edition or the use of costly SAN storage. He will show how this strategy can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in TCO for typical enterprise SQL Server deployments with HA and DR protection.

Mr. D’Antoni is a senior architect with more than a decade of experience working in both Fortune 500 and smaller firms. He is currently a solutions architect for SQL Server and Big Data for Anexinet in Blue Bell, PA. He is a frequent speaker at major tech events, and blogs regularly about a variety of technology topics. He believes that no single platform is the answer to all technology problems. He holds an MSCE BI, a BS in CIS from Louisiana Tech University and an MBA from North Carolina State University.

eWeek: To SAN or Not to SAN: 10 Questions to Ask Before You Commit

Image -- eWeek LogoCompanies are finding new ways to combine physical, virtual and cloud environments to control costs in new-generation data centers. Traditional clusters based on shared storage (namely, storage area networks) are no longer the de facto choice for protecting business-critical applications in these new environments. SAN-less cluster packages, which are able to pool a large amount of unstructured data across a variety of storage configurations, have attributes that work well for both new-gen and older IT systems. These features enable data center managers to utilize the flexibility and cost savings of cloud, virtual and high-performance storage, and mixed infrastructures without sacrificing availability or disaster protection for business-critical applications. This eWEEK slide show, using industry insight from Jerry Melnick, chief operating officer of San Mateo, Calif.-based SIOS, presents 10 questions to ask that will help determine if a SAN-less cluster solution is right for your enterprise. SIOS makes both SAN and SAN-less software that protects data and applications from downtime.
