Press Release: Fusion-io Technology Alliance Partner Solutions in the Spotlight at SuperComputing 2013

December 21, 2013 by sios2017

SALT LAKE CITY – Nov. 14, 2013 – As flash memory continues to redefine enterprise and high performance computing, industry leader Fusion-io (NYSE: FIO) today announced that it will be showcasing a number of innovative companies that complement flash memory architectures in booth 3709 at the SuperComputing 2013 trade show being held November 18 – 21 in Denver, CO.

“Flash memory offers powerful cost savings and performance benefits for the data-intensive applications that are critical for enterprise and high performance computing,” said Gary Orenstein, Fusion-io Executive Vice President. “With solutions that complement flash architectures across servers, networking, high availability, security and big data application optimization, the innovative Technology Alliance Partners featured in the Fusion-io booth at SuperComputing demonstrate that flash memory is a critical element of today’s IT infrastructure.”

Emulex, a leader in network connectivity, monitoring and management, will be showcasing its line of ultra high-performance I/O connectivity offerings, which have been designed into server and storage solutions from leading OEMs and can be found in the data centers of nearly all of the Fortune 1000.

Hyve Solutions, a division of SYNNEX Corporation, will be demonstrating its energy-efficient Open Compute Project servers and storage products. The vanity-free hyperscale Hyve Solutions products are cost effective and built specifically to actual workloads and data center environments.

One Stop Systems will be showcasing its new Flash Storage Array, which supports up to 32 ioScale products to deliver 100TB of industry-leading application acceleration.

Data Protection leader SIOS will be exhibiting high availability SAN and #SANLess cluster software solutions for mission-critical applications in Windows and Linux environments. SIOS #SANLess clusters are easy to implement, easy to use, and easy to manage, eliminating the complexity and capital expenditures associated with traditional SAN-based high availability and disaster recovery approaches.

A pioneer in low-latency 10GbE server networking solutions, Solarflare will be showcasing its application-intelligent networking I/O hardware and software products that bridge the gap between applications and the network, delivering improved performance, increased scalability, and higher return on investment.  Solarflare solutions provide superior performance in a wide range of scale-out server environments such as high frequency trading, high performance computing (HPC), cloud virtualization and big data.

Sqrrl Enterprise will be exhibiting its secure and scalable NoSQL database for real-time big data applications that is powered by Apache Accumulo and the Hadoop big data platform. Apache Accumulo is a powerful NoSQL database used throughout the federal government and by various industries, such as healthcare, finance, and telecommunications. Sqrrl Enterprise extends the capabilities of Accumulo with additional management, security, and real-time analytical features.

Supermicro will be showcasing its high-performance, high-efficiency server platforms optimized to deliver maximum I/O performance with Fusion-io’s flash memory architecture. Traditional databases, No-SQL databases, file/object storage and VDI can all benefit from accelerated computing and storage solutions powered by Supermicro and Fusion-io.

Symantec will be demonstrating how organizations can achieve reliable performance with flash and improve ROI on flash investments without compromising on flexibility. Symantec Storage Foundation, powered by Veritas, provides advanced online storage management, high availability and disaster recovery for physical and virtual environments.

SQLMag.com – Amazon EC2, SQL Server, and High Availability

October 30, 2013 by <a href="http://sqlmag.com/">Denny Cherry (@MrDenny)</a> Leave a Comment

I need to get clustering setup when using EC2 to host my SQL Server databases. How can I do this?

If you use native functionality, you can’t because Amazon’s EC2 service doesn’t offer a way to present the same disks to multiple virtual servers at the same time.

But thankfully we aren’t linked to native functionality. A while back I wrote about DataKeeper Cluster Edition from SIOS Technology and how you can use it to build a high speed highly availability storage platform using Fusion ioDrive PCIe cards. The same software can be used to provide a high availability solution within the Amazon EC2 environment. Read more…

Computer Concept, a long time partner and Service & Support Center for SIOS Technology, is expanding their portfolio to include new high availability options for high performance environments. Many have said that you have to have a SAN to cluster but that is simply no longer the case. SIOS’ DataKeeper and Protection Suite products enable local high-speed storage to be seen as shared volumes. The advantage is that you are no longer limited to spinning disks. Now organizations and administrators can take advantage of the latest in performance storage, including SSDs, PCIe flash memory and whatever may come next.

SQLMag.com – Massive Speed and HA

August 1, 2013 by Margaret Hoagland Leave a Comment

Two Things That Usually Don’t Go Together: MASSIVE SPEED AND HA

Question: William asks “I have a SQL Server which needs both high availability and high-speed storage. Even SAN storage with SSD based hard drives isn’t providing the performance levels that we are looking for, while still getting the failover cluster HA solution that we need for our SQL Server 2008 R2 database?”
