Press Release: SIOS Technical Evangelist to Discuss Protecting Business Critical Applications in Cloud Environments at Cloud Expo

June 4, 2015 by sios2017

SAN MATEO, CA – June 4, 2015 – SIOS Technology Corp. (www.us.sios.com), maker of SAN and #SANLess clustering software products, today announced that SIOS Senior Technical Evangelist and Microsoft Clustering MVP, David Bermingham will present a session about protecting business critical applications in cloud environments at Cloud Expo taking place next week in New York, NY.

Titled, “Protecting mission critical applications in cloud environments,” David’s session is scheduled for Thursday, June 11 at 4:50 pm at the Javits Center, New York, NY. For more information about the Cloud Expo or to register, visit here.

Gartner predicts that the bulk of new IT spending by 2016 will be for cloud platforms and applications and that nearly half of large enterprises will have cloud deployments by the end of 2017. The benefits of the cloud may be clear for applications that can tolerate brief periods of downtime, but for critical applications like SQL Server, Oracle and SAP, companies need a strategy for HA and DR protection. By adding SANLess clustering software as an ingredient to Windows Server Failover Clustering, companies can provide HA and DR protection in a cloud where traditional shared-storage clusters may be impractical or impossible. Attendees at David’s session will learn the truths and myths of HA and DR in cloud deployments that can dramatically reduce data center costs and risks.

About the Speaker

David Bermingham is recognized as a high availability expert and has been honored by his peers by being elected to be a Microsoft MVP in Clustering since 2010. David’s work as Senior Technical Evangelist at SIOS Technology Corp. has him focused on helping enterprise companies provide high availability and disaster recovery solutions for their business critical applications.

Press Release: SIOS DataKeeper Cluster Edition Honored with Computer Technology Review’s Most Valuable Product (MVP) 2015 Award

May 26, 2015 by sios2017

SAN MATEO, CA – May 26, 2015 – SIOS Technology Corp. (www.us.sios.com), maker of SAN and #SANLess clustering software products, today announced it received a Most Valuable Product (MVP) award for 2015 from Computer Technology Review for its SIOS DataKeeper™ Cluster Edition software.

As one of a select number of notable IT products receiving CTR’s MVP award, SIOS DataKeeper Cluster Edition was honored by CTR’s editorial panel based on rigorous judging criteria that included product innovation, functionality and affordability.

SIOS DataKeeper Cluster Edition software enables SANLess clustering for high availability and disaster protection in Windows Server Failover Clustering environments. It protects data in physical, virtual, and cloud environments and provides enterprise-class protection for all server workloads at a fraction of the cost of traditional shared-storage (SAN) based clusters.

“Host-based replication solutions for Windows often require additional hardware accelerators or compression devices,” said Computer Technology Review Editor-in-Chief, Kim Kay. “Not so with SIOS DataKeeper Cluster Edition, which allows users to hand-pick industry-standard hardware and local attached storage in a ‘shared-nothing’ or SANLess configuration,” Kay said. “That’s one of the many reasons they earned an MVP award from Computer Technology Review.”

“This award is a source of great pride to our organization and demonstrates our dedication to achieving measurable ROI for customers by protecting applications, like Windows SQL Server, from downtime in a cloud environment and to extend that high availability across on-premises and cloud resources,” said Jerry Melnick, COO of SIOS Technology.  “SIOS DataKeeper is a key ingredient added to Windows Server Failover Clustering environments that enables customers to have high availability clustering protection in environments where traditional shared storage clusters are impractical or impossible.”

Full details about SIOS DataKeeper Cluster Edition and its recognition can be found here.

Press Release: SIOS Webinar Reveals Strategies for Helping SQL Server and VM Admins to Jointly Ensure High Availability in VMware Environments

May 13, 2015 by sios2017 Leave a Comment

SAN MATEO, CA – May 13, 2015 – SIOS Technology Corp. (www.us.sios.com), maker of SAN and #SANLess clustering software products, today announced a live webinar featuring Microsoft SQL Server MVP and VMware vExpert David Klee that will reveal strategies to ensure moving SQL Server to VM environments does not impact performance.

Titled, “Is HA pitting SQL Database Admins against VM Admins? Keeping the Peace with SANLess clusters,” this webinar will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 10:00 AM PDT / 1:00 PM EDT.  To register, please visit:  http://us.sios.com/2015-05-webinar

Moving SQL Server to a VM environment has a very real impact on the IT staff involved. To provide the high availability (HA) protection this mission critical app requires, SQL Admins may have to work closely with VM Admins. If performance suffers, the relationship can quickly become contentious. In this webinar, Microsoft MVP and VMware vExpert David Klee will review four common use cases that pit SQL Admins against VM Admins when SQL Server HA is involved. He will also describe a simple way for SQL Server admins to provide HA without the need to involve VMware admins.

About the Speaker

David Klee is a Microsoft MVP and VMware vExpert with over 17 years of IT experience. David spends his days handling performance and HA/DR architecture of mission-critical SQL Servers as the Founder of Heraflux Technologies. His areas of expertise are virtualization and performance, datacenter architecture, and risk mitigation through high availability and disaster recovery. You can read his blog at davidklee.net, and reach him on Twitter at @KleeGeek.
